Flexible PCBs
These PCBs have an electrical circuit arranged on a substrate made by laminating a thin, flexible, insulating base film (such as polyimide) with copper foil.
Since these boards, including their wiring, are thin, flexible and can be freely bent, electronic devices can be made smaller, lighter and thinner, and they can be three-dimensionally fitted into very small gaps.
Features
- Flexibility: Superior bendability (including repeated bending).
- Lighter: Lighter than rigid PCBs.
- Smaller: The flexible material can be used on curved surfaces and in moving parts, allowing for efficient use of space.
- Impact resistance and high reliability: The flexible material is resistant to impacts and vibrations, and is unlikely to break or have poor contact.
